Becky grew up in Georgetown Township. She is the daughter of Mike and Donna Bergeon. Becky attended Pinewood Elementary, Jenison Junior High and Jenison High School. Becky worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Jenison Aquatics Center during high school and while attending Grand Valley State University. Becky has earned a Bachelor's degree in mathematics and a Master's degree in special education, and is currently employed by Jenison Public Schools as a teacher at Bursley Elementary. Becky and her husband (Preston) recently purchased a home on the same street where Becky grew up. They are excited to be raising their two young children, Tessa and Isaac, in the neighborhood, church and school communities that Becky has always called home.
Becky values listening, learning, researching, collaboration and communication. She thinks that it is essential that the Georgetown Township Board members truly hear the voices of the community that they represent, and that those voices guide their goals, agendas and vision. Additionally, she believes it is the Board's duty to encourage and oversee maintenance, improvement and growth of the township while practicing responsible and transparent spending and decision making.
Becky strives to be an informed decision maker and a servant leader. She is running for Trustee and is confident that the 2016 election will bring new perspectives and accountability to our local government.
